Parish update - 24/3/20 -

All Churches in the parish are closed, and all Masses (weekday and weekend) are suspended until further notice. this is mandated by Government and Health directives, and by the decision of the Archbishop. However, the "church," (the People of God united to Christ) is still alive and well. People are continuing to pray and reflect and show Our Lord's compassion to those around them.

Unfortunately, the churches are not open for private prayer and all meetings and public sacraments are suspended. Reconciliations also are suspended. Communion to the sick is restricted to Viaticum (communion to those who are dying) and, in that case, the Priest will conduct this.

Please avoid any unnecessary contact with people. If you need to talk to us please use the phone or email.

Due to staff being kept to a minimum and due to the sound advice that people avoid any unnecessary contact, the parish office hours will be limited for the time being:

Someone from our office will be contactable by phone between 9am-12noon, Monday to Friday. Any urgent or pressing requests can be made outside this time by ringing the on-call priest - an option provided after ringing the parish number (07) 5572 5433

Update: (Based on the Sydney Archdiocesan message):
Australia was founded at a time when the Mass could not be celebrated on these shores. Following the most recent advice from the commonwealth and state governments, it may seem that we are again in that situation.
But where our forefathers and mothers waited for years to receive the Holy Eucharist, it will be at worst a matter of months for us. But just as prayer sustained them through those times, so can it for us today. The spirit of those first Australian Catholics should inspire us through the times ahead.
“Mass for You at Home” is broadcast on Channel 10 each Sunday from 6am. There are several live-streaming and on-demand services for daily Mass both locally and from around the English-speaking world.

Closure of churches: Clarification has been received from the government that all churches must be closed, even to private prayer.

God bless us all at this time. May the Lord sustain all people affected by this emergency.
