Lockdown Extended. Parish Masses suspended - until at least 4 pm Sunday evening

Please keep parishioners Justin King in your prayers, he is in hospital after suffering a stroke.  Our prayers are with him and his family.

As you would no doubt have heard from today's news, The Queensland government has extended lockdown in the 11 local government areas (LGAs) of Southeast Queensland through to 4:00 pm Sunday, 8 August These LGAs include Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, and Somerset.

Just to confirm too, YES -  the church is subject to the same restrictions as every other area of society in regards to these health lockdowns, so please follow the local news on tv and radio as this will also alert you to any developments and changes affecting all of us, including the churches.   There is always the possibility that the lockdown could be extended beyond Sunday, so we will let you know as things develop and are announced.

The following restrictions are in place during this time:

·        Places of worship will remain closed until 4:00pm Sunday 8 August.

·        Funerals are restricted to 10 people.

·        Archdiocesan office locations (including parish offices) will be closed for non-essential workers through 4 pm Sunday, 8 August.

o   Clergy and parish employees are to remain at home and not go into the office unless required for a critical function.

·        Anyone who was in South East Queensland since 1:00am Saturday 31 July is required to follow the same lockdown rules even if they are no longer in those areas.

·        This is a stricter lockdown than we have experienced in the past.  Individuals in the affected LGAs will be required to stay at home and cannot travel beyond a 10 kilometre radius of their home.  An exception to this restriction is for essential service, which would include end of life care, assisting vulnerable persons and accessing health care including getting a COVID-19 test or vaccination.

Please continue to monitor the exposure sites on www.qld.gov.au which are updated continuously. Keep in mind that if you are unwell, or experiencing any symptoms, you are urged to get a COVID test and quarantine at home until you receive a negative result.

We will continue to updateyou as new information is released in the coming days.  Thank you for all your efforts to keep everyone safe.
